So you’re thinking of becoming a volunteer.

Excellent! You will be glad you did. You will never be the same again. Volunteering changes people. It embodies the servant model of leadership that Jesus practiced while he was here on earth. You are filling His sandals to show their value in the eyes of God.

Here is a step-by-step guide to show you what you need to do in order to become a volunteer. Our purpose in setting out the steps is to give you a clear understanding of the various areas that need your attention.

Once you have decided to become a volunteer, check out the Find a Position page. Search through the list and choose your preference.

In preparation for your assignment, we send you a study pack Passport to Mission. This is designed to make you aware of the mission you are stepping into in order to make your experience fulfilling and fruitful.

You will probably need a visa and you will definitely need a passport. We will assist you in getting a visa but you will need to send us your passport. The issues of insurance, airline tickets and many other organisational matters are all necessary to complete, and we are here to assist you in finding the answers.

On your return from your assignment we endeavour to care for you in a variety of ways. We will give you the book Re-entry, which is a practical look at real issues that you may encounter when you return. You will receive an invitation to our Re-entry Weekend where all of the longterm volunteers have a weekend away at our expense to celebrate the contribution you have made. We will keep you on our database and email you our newsletter to keep you in touch.

Well done, and I hope you will take the leap and move outside your comfort zone to serve others as Jesus did.
