Talk to the organisation about the need for a volunteer, and create a desire to have a volunteer.
Put in place a small “Volunteer Feasibility Committee” to research the capacity of your organisation to fund and look after a volunteer, and to complete the application documents. This same committee could become the “Volunteer Management Committee” if you should choose to get a volunteer.
Create a full job description. This is an important item that will outline the obligations of the organisation and the volunteer (see sample in section 3).
Create a budget to inform both the local organisation and the prospective volunteer of what can be expected (see sample in section 4).
Complete the service request form - download them from the web. This document needs to be signed by your local conference.
Once you have done this, send us a copy of items 3, 4 and 5
It will also be important for you to tell us where you want to draw your volunteer from, as this will influence where we advertise for you.
